Facebook integration configuration

Introduction

Apteco integrates with Facebook to reduce the separation between direct and social marketing activities and data.

You can:

  • Publish Direct Posts

  • Publish Adverts

  • Upload a custom Audience

The integration enables PeopleStage to publish direct posts, adverts, and direct adverts to a Facebook page, to target ads to custom audiences and to track and act on the following Facebook responses.

  • Likes

  • Dislikes

  • Comments

  • Reach Count

  • Link Clicks

Note: Before you get started, you must configure your Facebook App Identity, Page and Facebook user permissions for each implementation, for more information see: Before you begin

Facebook is integrated with your Apteco system by utilising the:

  • Facebook Graph API

  • Facebook Adverts(Ads) API

  • The OAuth 2.0 protocol

The Facebook integration is supported by new code in the FastStats Service and Web Service, a new Social database and a new social response gatherer component.

Using the Administration Suite within FastStats, you can:

  • Set up your Facebook Apps

  • Set up your Facebook Pages

  • Grant permissions to FastStats administrators and users to manage Apps and Pages

  • Obtain and store App User Tokens and Page User Tokens by logging in to the Facebook App via a FastStats Facebook login mechanism

A page token allows you to manage the activities for that page. An app token allows you to manage adverts as well as the page activities. Once valid tokens have been obtained and stored in the Social database, you can start to create campaigns and reports in PeopleStage and gather responses.

Within PeopleStage, you can perform the following Facebook tasks:

  • Set up PeopleStage Channels for specific Pages and Facebook Ad accounts authorised for the particular Facebook App.

  • Publish Direct Posts to a Facebook Page: the post can be text, an image or a video

  • Publish Adverts: activate predefined Ad sets/Ads or retrigger existing Ad sets/Ads and upload a custom audience.

  • Upload a custom Audience to include targeting Lookalikes for Adverts. Custom audiences can be defined by either: email address, phone numbers or Facebook App-scoped user IDs (typically collected by the Facebook Response Gatherer

The Facebook Response Gatherer can be scheduled to run batch jobs to collect page insights, page like counts, post insights, post likers(or dislikers), post commenters and advert insights. The likers and commenters can be retargeted in a custom audience.

PeopleStage allows you to define and implement marketing process flow diagrams that integrate direct and social marketing and allow your organisation to react to the responses you receive from Facebook in a timely fashion.
