Twitter integration configuration

Introduction

Apteco integrates with Twitter to reduce the separation between direct and social marketing activities and data.

You can:

  • Publish Direct Tweets

  • Publish Direct Messages

  • Publish Adverts

  • Publish Direct Adverts (Ads)

  • Upload a tailored Audience

The integration enables PeopleStage to make tweets on your Twitter advertiser handle in order to target Ads to tailored audiences and track and act on the following Twitter responses:

  • Follows
  • Likes
  • Retweets
  • Replies
  • Clicks
  • Link Clicks

Before you get started, you must configure your App Identity, advertiser Handle and Twitter user permissions for each implementation, for more information see: Before you Begin

Twitter is integrated with your Apteco system by utilising the:

  • Twitter Public API

  • Media API

  • Ads API

  • The OAuth 2.0 protocol

The Twitter integration is supported by new code in the FastStats Service and Web Service, a new Social database and a new Twitter Response Gatherer component

Using the Administration Suite within FastStats, you can :

  • Set up your Twitter Apps

  • Set up your Twitter Handles

  • Grant permissions to FastStats administrators and users to manage Apps and Handles

  • Obtain and store Handle Tokens by logging in to the Twitter App via a FastStats Twitter login mechanism

A handle token allows you to manage the activities for that advertiser's handle including organic tweets and adverts. Once valid tokens have been obtained and stored in the Social database, you can start to create campaigns and reports in PeopleStage and gather responses.

Within PeopleStage, you can perform the following Twitter tasks:

  • Set up channels for specific advertiser Handles and Ads accounts authorised for the particular App

  • Publish Direct Tweets to a handle: an organic tweet can be text, an image or a video

  • Publish Direct Messages allows a campaigner to publish a private direct message to a list of people to their Twitter Handles or Twitter UIDs.

  • Publish Adverts: retrigger existing ad campaigns/line items and upload a tailored audience

  • Publish Direct Adverts(Ads): create ad campaigns, line items, promoted-only tweets, adcreatives and upload a tailored audience

  • Upload a tailored audience to include targeting Lookalikes for Direct Ads or Adverts. Tailored audiences can be defined by either a Twitter Handle User ID, email address, or phone number (typically collected by the Twitter Response Gatherer)

Only Twitter Apps where the advertiser Handles have been whitelisted will be able to publish campaigns in PeopleStage, for more information see: Before you Begin

PeopleStage allows you to define and implement marketing process flow diagrams that integrate direct and social marketing and allow your organisation to react to the responses you receive from Facebook in a timely fashion.
