# Orbit Updater installation files

You need the **OrbitUpdaterSetup.msi** from the **Orbit.zip** file, downloadable from the software releases area of the Apteco portal:

Download and extract the zip file contents from the Current Apteco Orbit Download section.

> Don't install the Orbit Updater yet.

## Orbit Updater diagram

The Orbit Updater performs the following:

1. Polls `https://orbit.apteco.com/FastStatsOrbitUpdateServer/nuget/`
2. Checks the version numbers of the already-installed API and UI
3. If no Orbit installation exists, or if the version on orbit.apteco.com is newer than the installed version, the updater:

   - Downloads a new version
   - Updates files
   - Runs any contained update scripts
