# Checking variables

The Define Variables menu contains some options for checking code sources:

The **Check Code Sources** option displays a dialog listing all the codes sources in the system definition. The check button then verifies that the files and the database connections can be found.

## Check for duplicates

The **Check for Duplicates** dialog can be used to ensure that every variable has a unique reference and a unique name, the duplicates can be shown and edited:
