# Send email

The send email action sends an email to the specified address - this is typically used to inform an Administrator that a long-running build has completed.

The current build log can be added to the email as an attachment. Define an email credential on the [Credentials](<https://help.apteco.com/en/designer/system-configuration/credential-manager/index.md>) tab of the System Configuration.

## Email format

The email format can be plain text or HTML. Here is an example of an HTML email that uses environment variables:

The %LOAD\_REPORT% variable in this example comes from a previously run Tolerance Check action. The %SYSTEM\_NAME% is a user defined environment variable while %FSBUILDDATE\_FMT% and %FSBUILDTIME\_FMT% are built-in environment variables.
