# Chart template

FastStats makes it possible to save the settings of a Chart as a template which can be re-used on different selections.

Before creating the template, give the chart a meaningful description.

## Save a chart template

To save a Chart as a template:

1. Click on the icon to the left of the Chart name.
2. Drag and drop the icon onto the Templates ribbon bar.

## Use a chart template

To make use of a saved Chart template:

Either

1. Drag and drop the template over the Selection or Cube you wish to visualise.

   Or
2. Drag the Chart template onto the workspace and then use the [Filter](<https://help.apteco.com/en/faststats/visualisation/charting/apply-filter/index.md>) panel in the Charting window to define the records to visualise.
