# Summary aggregation

Within a Data Grid it is possible to aggregate the information in a column based upon the variable type being displayed. For example a Currency/Numeric variable may be summarised in terms of a count of values or perhaps the sum of the values.

## Applying summary aggregation

1. Right click on the variable heading in the **Data Grid** and select **Summary Aggregation**.

The options shown will be determined by the variable type.

The calculations that are applied are based upon the number of records in each column. Remember the default **Rows to Browse** figure is 1,000.
