# Descriptions or codes

For categorical selectors within FastStats, you can toggle between displaying the codes or the descriptions.

By default, the Data Grid will show descriptions when in **Browse view**.

## Changing column display

To change how a column is displayed:

1. Right click on the column heading you wish to change.
2. Choose either **Change Column to Display Codes** or **Change Column to Display Descriptions** from the pop-up menu.
