# Data variables

Orbit Audiences share access to the variables held in your customised FastStats system, allowing you to search your data and make selections of records in a variety of ways according to the variable type.

### Types of Variables

- Selector
- Multi-Response
- Date
- Numeric
- Text
- Currency
- Date Time
- URN (when **Applying Limits** to an **Audience** or creating an **Export Template**)

## Selector

When you use a Selector type variable in an Audience, you have the option to select IS or IS NOT to include or exclude particular categories:

## Multi-response

When you use a Flag Array or Array variable in an Audience, you have the option to select IS or IS NOT to include or exclude particular categories:

Like a Selector, the default logic between categories selected is OR. Should you wish to select based on AND, simply use the same variable twice and apply the AND logic between the rows.

## Date

When you use a Date variable in an Audience, you have the option to select IS or IS NOT to include or exclude a particular date or fixed date range:

Click on the calendar icons to access and define the required start and end points for the date or date range.

## Numeric

When you use a Numeric variable in an Audience, you have the option to select IS or IS NOT to include or exclude a particular value or range of values:

Specify your value or range of values using the drop-down list of functions.

Enter any further required range or values, clicking Add after each:

## Text

When you use a Text variable in an Audience, you have multiple options to select from when defining text criteria.

This includes the ability to search using ranges and wildcards.

## Currency

When you use a Cost variable, you have the option to select *Is* or *IS NOT* to *include* or *exclude* a particular value or fixed value range.
