# Single dimension charts

A single dimension chart splits your data by one dimension, so you can compare its categories. For example, a column chart could show the number of supporters in each region.

For how dimensions and measures work, see [Dimensions](<https://help.apteco.com/en/orbit/dashboards/dimensions/index.md>) and [Measures](<https://help.apteco.com/en/orbit/dashboards/measures/index.md>).

## Add a single dimension chart

Most single dimension charts need one dimension and one measure. Combo charts need one dimension and two measures. The **Single Dimension Charts** group also has the table, which has its own page. See [Table tiles](<https://help.apteco.com/en/orbit/dashboards/tiles/tile-types/adding-tables-as-dashboard-tiles/index.md>).

To add a single dimension chart:

1. [Add a tile](<https://help.apteco.com/en/orbit/dashboards/creating-a-dashboard/#add-your-first-tile>) and choose a chart from the **Single Dimension Charts** group as the **Tile Type**.
2. Under **Dimension**, add the dimension.
3. Under **Measure**, add the measure, or two measures for a combo chart.
4. Select **Apply**, then **Save** the dashboard.

For the chart's other settings, such as its sort order and data labels, see [Measure settings](<https://help.apteco.com/en/orbit/dashboards/tiles/tile-editor/#measure-settings>).

## Chart types

Each chart type shows the categories of one dimension in a different way.

### Column

A column chart shows a column for each category. The height of each column shows the measure.

### Bar

A bar chart is a column chart turned on its side. The length of each bar shows the measure.

### Pie

A pie chart shows each category as a slice of a circle. The size of each slice shows the category's share of the total.

### Donut

A donut chart is a pie chart with a hole in the middle.

### Line

A line chart draws a line through a point for each category, such as each year. The height of each point shows the measure.

### Area

An area chart is a line chart with the area under the line filled in.

### Radar column

A radar column chart arranges the categories around a circle, with a column for each one pointing out from the centre. The length of each column shows the measure.

### Radar line

A radar line chart arranges the categories around a circle and draws a line through a point for each one. The further a point is from the centre, the higher the measure.

### Radar area

A radar area chart is a radar line chart with the area inside the line filled in.

### Funnel

A funnel chart shows each category as a segment of a funnel, sized by the measure. Use it to show how numbers fall at each stage of a process, such as from enquiry to first donation.

### Combo chart

A combo chart shows two measures. The left axis shows the first measure as a column for each category, and the right axis shows the second measure as a line.
