Resolve table paired values
Paired Values are blocks of criteria, within a user filter, created by filtering from tiles. A filter block can contain single values displaying categories from one variable whilst paired values contain related categories from multiple variables.
From the dashboard example above you can select Male from the Gender tile and £10-20k from the Income tile. The filter contains two filter blocks and selects Males earning £10-20k. People 146,496
Using a Multi Dimension chart, you can achieve the same result, and the filter displays a more succinct group of paired values. People 146,496
In addition to the ease of reading benefits, paired values provide they also allow filters to be created that are not possible without Multi Dimension charts and the resultant paired value groupings.
In the example above there is a Destination tile and a Booking Date tile and a Multi Dimension tile with Destination and Booking Date, in all cases the measure is People.
Selecting France and Germany from the Destination tile and 2017 and 2018 from the Booking Date tile returns two blocks in the user filter and filters to select Bookings to France and Greece in 2017 and 2018. People 270,772
If you wanted a filter to include People with Bookings to France in 2017 and to Germany, in 2018 you would not be able to use Single Dimension tiles. Instead, you would need the paired values created from filtering on a Multi Dimension tile.
