Mapping actions
Preview: This is a preview feature, and remains a work in progress. The following content may be subject to change before full release. If you have any questions regarding this preview feature, please direct them to our support team.
When creating a mapping, the following three actions are available:
-
Map Column: Use the Map Column button to link data source columns to destination fields in CDP standard tables.
-
Delete: Click Delete to discard unused data source columns.
-
+ Add Column: Re-add any previously deleted columns by clicking + Add Column.
Where column headers are recognised, these are automatically mapped to the equivalent columns within the CDP.
Ensuring columns are mapped correctly
Recognised columns appear in the Mapped Columns section and should be reviewed to ensure they are correctly mapped.
Other columns are displayed in the Unmapped Columns section.
For every column, you should either map them using the Map Column button or remove them with the delete button.
Note: This action only removes the column from the mapping page, not the data source itself.
Columns hidden in this way are indicated with a message on the page. You can add them to the mapping at any time using the Add Column button.
Searching for destination columns
Use the search dialogue to locate suitable destinations for source data columns.
Assigning a source group
Assigning a source group is mandatory.
Note: Grouping data sources tells the system that they share a common origin. The system can then match records based on identical column names or URNs only within the same group. The same URN in different groups is treated as different.
You cannot save a mapping without first allocating it to a source group. To assign a source group, either create a new group or select an existing source group.
Additional options
When editing a mapping, additional options are available via the menu at the top right of the page.
Schedule
Schedule opens a dialogue for setting a one time or repeating import schedule.
Save
Saves the definition settings for future use.
Import
Starts a manual import to the CDP tables.
Note: Setting a schedule or importing shouldn’t be carried out before defining ID Resolution rules.
Three-dot menu (Ellipsis)
The options menu provides two further functions:
Rename
You can rename your data mapping as required.
ID Resolution Rules
Configure rules to reconcile multiple data sources.
Note: ID resolution rules determine the incoming data records strategy. Incoming data is deduplicated and matched in order to create or update records within the CDP.
