Value limits
A value limit restricts the data points that display in your audience workbook visualisation with multiple dimensions. You can show all values or limit the display to the top or bottom 'n' values across your entire result set. You can apply value limits to any audience workbook visualisations with categorical or text dimensions.
The value limit setting is under Data Settings in the visualisation side panel.
-
Value limit applies across single or multiple dimensions and shows the top or bottom 'n' data points based on their values. For example, in a cube showing Income bands by Gender bands, if you select the top 3 values, the visualisation displays the three highest-value cells in the cube.
-
Category limit applies to a single dimension and shows the top or bottom 'n' categories within that dimension. For example, if you have an Income bands dimension and select the top two, the visualisation displays the first two income band categories.
Note: You can only configure the value limit at the overall visualisation level, not per individual dimension.
Note: When your table or cube contains multiple measures, Orbit uses the first measure in the sequence to evaluate the limit.
For example, if your first measure is Total people and your second measure is Total cost, the system uses Total people to determine which cells to display.
Applying a value limit
In the following example we’ll apply a value display limit to an audience workbook cube.
To apply a value limit:
-
Create or open a cube in audience workbooks.
-
Expand Data Options.
-
Toggle on the Value Limit option.
-
Under Type, select The Top or The Bottom.
-
Select the Limit you want to apply to the number of results displayed.
-
Choose whether you want to Omit Zeros.
-
Click Apply.
You’ve now successfully applied a value display limit to your cube.
Note: Text variables no longer have a category display option as this has been superseded by the value display, which is more effective in this case.
