Cube: How do I create a Cube with Aggregated Variables?
Aggregated variables allow you to analyse recency activity by right dragging a Selector variable onto a Cube dimension so that you can select, order and pick transactions to be used for the display.
In this example we will look to analyse People by the Last Destination they booked and the Last type of Insurance Cover they have taken.
-
Display a Cube on a blank Selection window both set to the People table level
-
Right drag the Destination variable onto the vertical dimension of the Cube
-
Select the Add First/Last Destination option from the pop up menu
On the window that appears you can choose which activity you want by defining its position and a method by which it is ordered. You may also filter the records that are examined by applying a selection query.
-
Select the Last 1 Booking and then drag Booking Date onto the ordered by box
-
Click OK
We now need to repeat this process with Insurance Cover on the vertical dimension.
-
Right drag the Cover variable onto the horizontal dimension of the Cube
-
Select the Add First/Last Destination option from the pop up menu
-
Select the Last 1 Insurance and then drag Policy Date onto the ordered by box
-
Click OK
To now analyse these results:
-
Click the Build button on the Cube
We can now see that 14,324 People booked their last holiday to France and also last took out Family Insurance Cover.
N.B. You can use the same variable on each of the dimensions e.g. Last booking to France and First booking to Germany.
