Using audience look-alikes

These audiences resemble your original audience, helping you target new prospects with similar characteristics.

Accessing a look-alikes audience

When a look-alikes audience is generated, you'll receive a notification.

To access a generated look-alike audience:

  1. Click on this pop-up for direct access.

  2. Alternatively, you can identify these audiences in the audience list by looking for the green badge.

The green badge indicates that this audience is special. Derived from the look-alikes solution, this audience comes with an intrinsic model score. Each record has a score denoting their similarity to the original dataset – the higher the score, the closer the resemblance.

If you've set a specific number of look-alike records, then the audience is tailored to match this by including/excluding records and applying limits.

Includes and excludes

Look-alike audiences find records similar to your original audience. The original audience is excluded to focus on new records. The rest are included within the set limits.

Limits

Your audience might have a set record limit based on the look-alikes score. For instance, an audience might be limited to the top 1000 records. Adjust this if needed. This example limits the audience to the top 1000 records.

Score variable

If you delete the variable and wish to re-apply it, or wish to use it elsewhere in this workbook, then the deleted variable is located on the top of the list of variables in the variable explorer.

What’s next

At this point, you can use the following options to make the most of your look-alike audiences:

  • Analyse your look-alikes and export them to FTP or a downstream channel

  • Use them in the campaign journey builder

  • Apply them anywhere in Orbit that an audience can be used, for example as part of a filter
