Orbit

ASP.NET Core 8 requirement for Apteco Orbit

Apteco plans to introduce a dependency on the ASP.NET Core 8 Server Hosting bundle for the OrbitAPI by mid-June at the earliest. We strongly recommend you install this on the web server as soon as possible so you can continue receiving updates for Orbit.

General

Windows OS and .Net Framework version requirement

Note: Since the Q2 2023 release, Apteco desktop software requires a minimum of the .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later to be installed.

This includes:

Client machines: Those running Apteco FastStats or Apteco PeopleStage
Servers: The machines used to run the FastStats Web Service and FastStats Service components

The latest version of the .NET installers can be downloaded from: https://www.microsoft.com/net/download

Apteco recommends keeping up to date with the latest version of the .NET Framework and ensuring that all Windows updates are applied.

Microsoft .NET 4.7.2 is supported on the following operating systems:

Windows 7 Service Pack 1
Windows 8.1
Windows 10 (all versions)
Windows Server 2016
Windows Server, version 1709
Windows Server, version 1803

Q1 2022

Orbit

Change of Pre-Requisites to ASP.NET Core 6

The second Orbit release in January 2022 (Version 1.10.26) introduced a dependency on the ASP.NET Core 6 Server Hosting bundle for the OrbitAPI. This is now required to be installed on the web server.

Q1 2019

FastStats

Windows OS and .Net Framework version requirement

From the Q1 2019 release onward, the FastStats Launcher requires .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later and supports TLS1.3 and later.

Existing versions of the Launcher are still supported but the 2016 Q4 Launcher was the last release that supported the .NET Framework 4.0 and therefore the last release that supported Windows XP.

Apteco recommends keeping up to date with the latest version of the .NET Framework and ensuring that all Windows updates are applied.
